South Community Helps Jags Unload, Move In
Posted on August 12, 2017
Today at the 猫咪社区APP, everyone from football players to faculty members helped move more than 1,200 freshmen into their new homes on the 猫咪社区APP campus.
It was Move-in Day at South, as hundreds of 猫咪社区APP students and employees unloaded suitcases, boxes and everything imaginable from packed vehicles and carried them into residence hall rooms, much to the delight of the new students and the relief of their families.
鈥淚鈥檝e never seen anything like this before,鈥 said Joe Long of Guin, Ala., whose daughter, Kaitlyn, was moving into Epsilon 1 residence hall, as cars lined up nearby to unload. 鈥淭his was very helpful and very welcome.鈥
The volunteer movers showed up at 8 o鈥檆lock this morning and worked all day to relocate the Class of 2021 into the University鈥檚 32 residence halls.
Move-in Day at South kicks off the University鈥檚 鈥淲eek of Welcome and Beyond,鈥 two weeks of special events to show students where they belong at 猫咪社区APP. Events such as First Night, Convocation, LGBTQ+ Welcome Reception, Get On Board Day and the JP Block Party highlight South鈥檚 diverse campus community and get students connected with the people and places that will be a big part of their lives at South Alabama.
In all, more than 2,300 students live on-campus at South. The first day of fall semester classes at 猫咪社区APP is Wednesday.
