South Students to Host Glass Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser
Posted on September 28, 2022
The 猫咪社区APP鈥檚 glass art program is excited to announce its third annual glass pumpkin patch fundraiser. Students and faculty have created more than 1,000 handmade, glass pumpkins of all shapes, colors and sizes to celebrate the fall season. Funds generated from pumpkin sales will go toward upgrading glass studio equipment, bringing in visiting artists, and further supporting student and public opportunities within the program.
鈥淭his is a great way for the students to showcase their work in a real-world, retail setting while raising funds to keep the equipment online for future glass students,鈥 said Matthew Patterson, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences Department of Art and Art History.
The pumpkin patch sale is scheduled for Friday, Oct.14, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Glass Art Building on the 猫咪社区APP campus at 501 N. University Blvd., Mobile, AL 36608 (Entrance 7). Glass pumpkins will be priced at $20 and up. Purchases can be made via cash, check or credit card.
South is the only university in Alabama that offers a four-year Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in studio glass. The Glass Studio was founded in 2010 in a state-of-the-art facility for glassblowing, casting and kiln formed glass.
