The 猫咪社区APP has received a $10,000 award aimed at easing financial challenges that can force students to withdraw before completing their degrees.
Ellucian, a provider of technological solutions for higher education, launched the Progress, Accomplishment, Thriving, Hope (or PATH) Scholarship in 2020. The company developed this initiative to assist colleges and universities in aiding students who face financial challenges that could disrupt their academic journeys.
鈥淩ecognizing how beneficial this grant opportunity could be for our students, we organized a team of university staff members and collaborated on developing a strong application,鈥 said Elizabeth Bordeaux, director of 猫咪社区APP One Stop. 鈥淓ach member of the team brought valuable insights and expertise, ensuring our proposal highlighted both the needs of our students and the resources we could provide through the PATH Scholarship.鈥
Team members included representatives from One Stop, Student Academic Success, Academic Affairs and Scholarship Services.
The award was divided into 10 $1,000 scholarships to distribute to qualified applicants. Priority was given to students nearing graduation.
鈥淪tudent success is at the heart of everything we do at South, and One Stop is deeply committed to supporting students from enrollment through graduation,鈥 Bordeaux said. 鈥淥ur goal is to remove as many barriers as possible, particularly when it comes to financial hardship, by offering resources and guidance tailored to each student鈥檚 unique situation.鈥
South awards approximately $145,000 in emergency and retention need-based aid annually.
鈥淭he success of our students is the ultimate measure of our success as a department and University,鈥 Bordeaux said.
