猫咪社区APP Office of Multicultural Student Affairs to Host Annual Black History Month Events

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the African-American Student Association at the 猫咪社区APP will host its annual events to celebrate Black History Month. Most events are free and open to the public.
Jeramey Anderson, the youngest person elected into the Mississippi House of Representatives, will speak on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center. During his talk, Anderson will speak about 鈥淢aking History,鈥 at any age.
Anderson founded an organization known as The Purple Knights of America, which is dedicated to serving as a mentoring organization to young boys ages 11-18.
In addition, Anderson has served in an array of leadership positions including being named and published in Who鈥檚 Who Among Outstanding American Students. As Youth of the Year, he created 鈥淗earts for Haiti鈥 and raised funds that were donated to the earthquake victims in Haiti. He served as the 2010 Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Jackson County and was 1st runner up for the State of Mississippi Youth of the Year. He was also elected as the 2009 Mississippi Boys State Lt. Gov.
He is also a graduate of Moss Point High School, and he received his associate degree in criminal justice from Pearl River Community College. Anderson, age 22, is currently a senior at Tulane University majoring in homeland security and public relations. He continues to empower youth with his ambition and success.

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 7 p.m.-Women of Excellence Inductions will be held in the 猫咪社区APP Library Room 181.
Monday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m.-Black History Jeopardy will be held in the 猫咪社区APP Library Auditorium. This event is co-sponsored by the African-American Student Association and the Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society.
Tuesday, Feb. 11, 6 p.m.-The Black History Scavenger Hunt will be held at the 猫咪社区APP Student Center. The event is co-sponsored by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Thursday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m.-AASA Night at the Basketball Game will be held at 猫咪社区APP鈥檚 Mitchell Center.
Friday, Feb. 14, 5:30-7:30 p.m.- Minority Preview Night will be held at 猫咪社区APP鈥檚 Mitchell Center on the main floor. This event sponsored by the 猫咪社区APP Office of Admissions is for prospective minority students.
Monday, Feb. 17, 7 p.m.- Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society inductions will be held in the 猫咪社区APP Health Sciences Building in the Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions main auditorium.
Tuesday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m.-The 鈥淚f You Really Knew Me鈥 forum will be held at the 猫咪社区APP Humanities Building, Room 160.
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 7 p.m.-MADDRAMA Performance Troupe will present 鈥淭here鈥檚 a War Going On鈥 in the 猫咪社区APP Laidlaw Performing Arts Center. For more information, visit .
Thursday, Feb. 20, 7 p.m.-A Night of African-American Art event will be held at the Mobile Museum of Art. The event is sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
