Nine Engineering Students Earn Tau Beta Pi Scholarships
Posted on August 24, 2015
Nine 猫咪社区APP engineering seniors have recently been selected as Tau Beta Pi scholars. No other university in Alabama had more than two recipients, and the 猫咪社区APP contingent is the second-largest university representation in the country. Tau Beta Pi is a national engineering honor society.
鈥淚t is a wonderful tribute to our students and the Alabama Epsilon Chapter of Tau Beta Pi,鈥 said Dr. John Steadman, dean of the College of Engineering. 鈥淭au Beta Pi scholarships are awarded on the competitive criteria of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.鈥
The recipients will receive a cash award of $2,000 for their senior year of engineering study. Only 261 students were selected for this award from the 244 Tau Beta Pi collegiate chapters across the country.
The 猫咪社区APP students are Benjamin Burleson, a chemical engineering major from Satsuma; Bradley Harris, a chemical engineering major from Mobile; Ryan Hutchison, a chemical engineering major from Seattle, Wash.; Brannon Kerrigan, an electrical engineering major from D鈥橧berville, Miss.; Robert Mines, a chemical engineering major from Pensacola, Fla.; George Moore, a mechanical engineering major from Lucedale, Miss.; John Mullins, an electrical engineering major from Pensacola, Fla.; William Spikes, a chemical engineering major from Mobile; and Boni Yraguen, a mechanical engineering major from Roseburg, Ore.
